I got about a third of the way through this book and realised I had no sympathy for any of the characters, I just wasn’t hooked.
I found that the ‘problem/problem solved’ cycle just got too repetitive and that the tension that this was meant to build wasn’t there as the main character seemed to be a MacGyver and understood how to fix anything with an elastic band, two foot of rubber tubing and a dead parrot.
Andy Weir’s writing style was quite smooth though and there was no difficulty with the flow of the book, dialogue was sharp and concise.
I did try several times to continue due to the good reviews that I had heard, but couldn’t find my way into the book or the characters so have given up and gone on to read other things.
