Just over a week ago I noticed that Maz Evans (@MaryAliceEvans) was using Twitter to link schools which are in desperate need of new books throughout, but especially in their libraries which are being so vastly underfunded at this moment in time.
This is despite a study commissioned by the Government highlighting improvements to children’s lives beyond the mere needs of literacy when they have access and encouragement to read.
I immediately joined as a Book Buddy to donate my excess books to a school library, but on further thought realised I could help a little more as I have a certain skill set and access to some resources.
So we now have Book Buddy (www.bookbuddy.org.uk), a site to help coordinate the donating of books to the schools that sign up and to make it a permanent fixture.
Hope all you people with extra books and schools that have needs join in and keep this going.
